I Wrote A Book

image

The journey that lead me to writing comes from a deep passion for reading and writing.

I started writing this book in 2011 after getting laid off from my job with a DME (Durable Medical Equipment ) company.   After twenty something years in the medical field as a licensed respiratory therapist.

What does a respiratory therapist do?

Respiratory Therapist are important to patients that have trouble breathing.  Lung diseases like Asthma,  Emphysema,  COPD (Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease)just to name a few.  The main responsibilities are to keep patients breathing.  From a nebulizer treatment, Bipap or Cpap machines to being a major part in a persons care in the intensive care unit.
In the ICU (Intensive Care Unit) they are the people you want monitoring the ventilator that’s keeping your lungs breathing.

Now where was I?  Oh that’s right I was telling you about my journey to writing my first book ,  Terror In The North Tower.  One day I sat down and just started typing on the computer.  Words just seemed to flow onto the page.  Then after about six months they stopped.  All in all it took me a year to write this work of art.  Writing wasn’t that hard, it was finding a publisher I could afford.

Publisher’s cost money!

Zondervan, Xulon Press are just a few that I checked into.  Oh yes, we can help you publish your book but it’s going to cost xxx dollars.  Where was I going to get that kind of money?  Finally after four years I had the opportunity to meet Monna Ellithorpe .  She is a member and co founder of the Power Affiliate Club PAC and a published author herself.

What an amazing experience it has been working with her to make my words actually come to life.  Publishing first on Kindle by Amazon.com then paperback will follow soon thereafter.

What’s the book about?

A murder mystery, love story with a twist the reader won’t see coming.  This story’s main theme is about respiratory therapist in the hospital setting.  Many books are written with the doctor or nurse being the villlian.  Now I want to make something very clear.  This fictional thriller is just that.   Fiction!!!

I love my profession as well as my peers and the men and women that have a passion for seeing others well.

Terror In The North Tower releases on Saturday May 28, 2016.  Get The Book Here

My hope is  that the person reading this blog post will order the book, read it, share this article and spread the word.

Who Will Hear Me?

image

Something has been weighing on my heart.

I had an opportunity to speak at the Colorado Society For Respiratory Care’s annual conference the beginning of this month.

How fasinating it was to be speaking infront of my former colleagues and physicians about the newest catagory breakthrough in medicine.

Then the bomb dropped!

“We regret to inform you we will not be able to have you and Dr. Anita Corrigan speak at this years confrence.  Due to the fact that Dr. Corrigan is not an MD and an ND, your respiratory license has expired and your credentialed as a CRT we can’t give the students there continued education according to the AARC guidlines “.

Flabbergasted

Thats the only word I can come up with to put things nicely.   The hugest breakthrough in medical technology and all because

     1.  It’s not a drug it’s a supplement.
     2.  Dr. Corrigan isn’t an MD and therefore her ND credentials don’t matter.
     3.  The credential of CRT (certified respiratory therapist) is no longer recognized and respected by the respiratory community.   One must be a RRT (registered respiratory therapist) to share important information with this community.

Who will hear me?

A new catagory in medicine is here.

Nrf2 technology is changing the game.  Protandim is the only patented supplement to reduce inflammation by 40% in 30 days. And the studies that have been done are scientific evidence that it works.  Pubmed.gov http://www.pubmed.gov has all the government and private studies done by universities to prove it does what it says.

I could let this detour me from my passion to change the world one person’s health at a time, or keep charging forward and pursuing those like minded people who want to bring change into the world.

Never Quit

I will never quit!  Now with Nrf1 added to Nrf2 health care as we know it will have a one, two punch to getting health, looking better, feeling better and performing better.  Turbo charging those mitochondria and making your own free radicals at an exuberant rate is possible.

Don’t believe me.

Writer’s Block

I was sitting in front of my tablet, looking down at a blank screen wondering what to write down. Could it be  that I have writer’s block?

Then a friend and fellow blogger from the Power Affiliate Club (William O’Toole) suggested that I write about writer’s block.

Writer’s Block

Why do we get stumped with writing?  Have we used up all the creativity in our brains?

I recently read an article by Maria Konnikova titled “How to Beat Writer’s Block” http:// http://www.newyorker.com/science/maria-konnikova/how-to-beat-writers-block.

In it shes states that ; “Writer’s block has probably existed since the invention of writing, but the term itself was first introduced into the academic literature in the nineteen-forties, by a psychiatrist named Edmund Bergler”.    Edmund studied writers who suffered from “neurotic inhibitions of productivity,” in an attempt to determine why they were unable to create—and what, if anything, could be done about it.

Basically “neurotic inhibitions of productivity ” is  a scientific name for writers block.

Throughout the years  many studies have been done by psychologist to determine why and how writers become unproductive.

The  The Center For Writing offers suggestions to aid writers with breaking the cycle of blockage and keep the creativity flowing.

Taking Notes   —  Keep a note pad handy at all times.  Jot down ideas when they pop into your head.   Look at your list, gather the  information and start creating.

Brainstorming   —    Just as you did in high school or college, begin the habbit of brainstorming thoughts. Eventually the best ideas will pop out at you, allowing the next article to be written.

These are just a few ideas.  Write about things you know.  Research, read other articles, take notes and most importantly WRITE SOMETIHING!

My desire is to provide valuable information to my readers.   If you find value in my blog please comment.
